The Yeti SB5.5 is where the trail, all-mountain and gravity bike intersect. Tried and tested under the likes of EWS champion Richie Rude and an in-house Yeti test team, this lightweight bike eats up grueling technical climbs and hauls going downhill. Forget any preconceived notions about 29ers, thanks to an impeccable frame design, shortened chain stays and aggressive suspension spec, the SB5.5 is easy to maneuver and feels lively and quick on the descents. 17.2 inch chainstays supporting the 29er wheel platform strike an optimal balance of stability and maneuveraility for the Yeti SB5.5. To achieve this shortened chainstay the designers eliminated the front derailleur mount and utilised a Boost rear spacing, but still kept true to Yeti's classic long geometry. To balance the bike's front end, we chose to use a long travel 51mm offset fork combined with a 66.5 degree head angle. This allowed Yeti to precisely tune the bike's mechanical trail and wheelbase. The SB5.5 Carbon is built to be responsive and lively, while still capable of withstanding punishing descents. Switch Infinity patented suspension system High modulus carbon fibre main frame and swing arm Collet axle system on pivots reduces bearing wear Integrated ISCG-05 mounts Tapered inset headtube (44mm/56mm) Custom down tube protector and chain guards Internal cable routing Integrated axle and derailleur hanger system Switch Infinity Translating Pivot - Explained The Switch Infinity holds full control of the bikes 5.5 of suspension, switching direction as the bike moves through its travel to result in a confidence inspiring performance that feels simply amazing on the trail. As you move through the bikes travel the pivot switches direction, early on in the movement it heads upwards, providing anti-squat and optimal pedalling. Further along the travel the pivot eventually switches to a downwards movement, providing you with a bottomless feeling that stops any chain force from affecting how the suspension performs. All resulting in an efficient, fun to ride and most importantly high performing ride both on the up and down hill!"
