That's why we equipped the Kid 200 with a simple 7 gear transmission and rim brakes front and rear, so that those first forays away from smooth Tarmac are both fun and safe. It is, in essence, a real mountain bike in miniature - with details tailored for small hands and lots of enthusiasm. When the climb starts getting too steep, the bailout 34 tooth sprocket can help out. The brake levers are specially designed for small hands, giving smooth control of the V-brakes and pleny of power for safe early trail adventures. We even fitted a power modulator to the front brake, so that over-enthusiastic stopping won't result in an endo. It's the ideal bike for introducing kids to real off-road fun. The heat-treated 6061 aluminium frame has the same quality and durability as a full-size mountain bike and is as light as our engineers can make it, thanks to a curved and formed down tube specifically designed for kids. Because we know that accidents can happen while they're pushing their boundaries, we've made the derailleur hanger easily replaceable. Just like a real mountain bike, the frame is equipped for v-brakes front and rear - and a choice of colours means there's a Kid 200 to suit every young rider."

Fun, safe and versatile: that's our CUBE Kid 200 Street. Based around our durable CUBE Kid 200 mountain bike frame, we've added smooth-rolling tyres and a host of add-on accessories to create a bike that's perfect for adventurous youngsters. Because it's a bike designed to be ridden on the road, our first priority was to make it as safe as possible. We started with an LED lighting system - driven from a hub dynamo, so you never have any worries about batteries running out - that's permanently 'on' and built to withstand any weather conditions, so young riders will always be visible to other traffic. Then we added a power modulator to the front brake, so over-enthusiastic use doesn't result in an over-the-bars dismount, or worse. The brakes themselves are powerful v-brakes with levers designed to be a perfect fit for small hands, while the 7 speed Shimano gears and smooth-shifting and reliable. Transporting belongings is easy thanks to the permanently fixed cargo rack, and full length mudguards help keep clothes dry and young riders warm and comfortable even when the road is wet. The CUBE Kid 200 Street doesn't even need a wall, tree or fence to stay upright, thanks to its built-in stand. We reckon we thought of everything. All that's missing is a young, keen rider... We designed the Kid 200 Street's light, durable, heat-treated 6061 aluminium frame with the same care that we put into all of our bikes. Available in two versions - the standard diamond frame and a low standover version - both feature replaceable derailleur hangers, so a knock or mishap needn't result in an expensive repair. Easy to handle and built with the rough-and-tumble of everyday use in mind, our design team is as proud of these bikes as they are of any that they create.
